Forever Land (i-iv) by Greta Laundy

Features

ARTIST NOTES: A set of four small oil paintings, 'Forever Land I- IV' evokes the mystery and spirituality present in the wonderful Flinders Ranges. While these works draw upon elements of this landscape, they are not depictions of actual places. Rather, they work as a meditative culmination of research I undertook post-camping in the Flinders. I really wanted to draw upon some special experiences I had here, where the landscape was vibrating with a quiet, yet powerful energy. Long associated with spirituality, deep purple and blue are used extensively, creating the sense of atmospheric depth in these works. The sun hangs ambivalently, either at the point of setting or rising, creating works that are open to viewer interpretation.
